Storage Services

When You Need Each Service

Most storage problems start with a skipped step before the vehicle goes in or a missed check when it comes out.

Before storage

  • Winterization for boats, RVs and jet skis in cold climates
  • Detailing so dirt, salt and food do not sit for months
  • Inspection with dated photos and mileage
  • Transport if the facility is far away or the vehicle does not run

While it is stored

  • Storage insurance sized for a parked vehicle
  • Maintenance: battery tending, start-ups, tire checks
  • Pest and moisture checks on longer stays

When it comes out

  • De-winterization and fluid checks before the first trip
  • A pick-up inspection against your before photos
  • Reinstate full insurance before driving or launching

Step-by-step guides: 47-point long-term storage checklist, motorhome winterization, boat winterization and storage insurance.

Storage Services FAQ

Do I need to winterize a vehicle before storage?

If it will sit through freezing temperatures, yes for boats, RVs, jet skis and anything with a water system. Freezing water cracks engine blocks, lines and fixtures. Cars and motorcycles mainly need fuel stabilizer, a charged battery and correct tire pressure.

Does my regular insurance cover a vehicle in storage?

Comprehensive coverage usually still applies, but many owners drop collision and liability while the vehicle is parked and switch to a storage or lay-up policy. Storage facilities typically require you to carry your own coverage; their insurance protects the building, not your vehicle.

Should I detail my vehicle before storing it?

Yes. Dirt, bird droppings, salt and food left inside cause paint damage, odors and pests over months of storage. A wash, wax and interior clean before storage, and an inspection when you pick it up, prevent most storage complaints.

Can a storage facility maintain my vehicle while it is stored?

Some do. Common options are battery tending, periodic start-ups, tire rotation and fluid checks, usually billed monthly. Ask the facility what it offers before you sign, or hire a mobile service that visits stored vehicles.

Why get an inspection before and after storage?

A dated record of condition, mileage and photos before storage makes any damage claim far easier to prove, and a pick-up inspection catches battery, tire and pest problems before you drive away.
