Compare Storage Facilities

Select up to 3 facilities and compare pricing, security, amenities, and reviews side by side.

How to use the storage facility comparison tool

Click "Add to Compare" on any facility listing as you browse the directory. Up to four facilities can be compared side-by-side here. The tool surfaces the data points that matter most when comparing apples to apples: pricing range, storage types offered, security features, max vehicle dimensions, amenities, and review aggregate. Side-by-side comparison reveals tradeoffs that one-at-a-time browsing misses.

Pricing comparisons. Look at the full range, not just the headline. A facility advertising "$50/month" may have only one outdoor uncovered space at that price, with everything else $200+. Facilities that publish a tighter range (e.g., $120-$180) often have more uniform inventory.

Storage type comparisons. A facility offering only outdoor uncovered cannot serve you if you need climate-controlled. The badge row in this tool shows what each facility actually offers. Filter by the specific storage class your vehicle needs before comparing on price.

Security feature comparisons. "Gated" means an electronic-access perimeter gate with logs. "Cameras" should be 30-day retention minimum. "On-site manager" means real human presence during business hours, not a 1-800 number. "Alarmed" can mean perimeter alarm only or per-bay alarms - ask the facility which.

Review comparisons. Star ratings are useful, but read the actual review text - especially the negative ones. A 4.2-star facility with thoughtful negative reviews often beats a 4.8-star facility with all generic praise. Look for reviews that mention specific issues (drainage, dust, billing disputes, theft) - those indicate operational problems that affect every customer.

When to walk the lot vs trust the listing

For storage commitments under $200/month or shorter than 6 months, the listing comparison + good reviews is usually enough. For higher-value commitments (climate-controlled vault for a collector car, dry-stack for a $200,000 boat, multi-year RV storage at a coastal facility), walk the lot. What you cannot tell from a listing: the access road condition (potholes that scrape your trailer), drainage during heavy rain, neighborhood security context (graffiti on adjacent buildings, broken fencing nearby), staff demeanor, and the actual condition of facility-supplied amenities (wash bay water pressure, dump-station cleanliness, electrical hookup reliability). A 30-minute walkthrough reveals all of this.

Comparison checklist - things to verify in person

Access: gate code reliability, after-hours availability, day-of-storage drop-off process. Bay condition: floor sealed and clean, electrical outlets in working order if applicable, ceiling height verified with your tallest hardware, no obvious water staining or rodent activity. Insurance: facility's required minimum coverage, whether they require additional-insured naming, claim history if any. Contract terms: month-to-month vs annual, cancellation notice period, late-fee schedule, dispute resolution language, force-majeure clauses (especially for hurricane states). Move-in / move-out: setup fees, prorated first month, deposit refund schedule. Communication: how do they notify you of issues, what is their response SLA on emails, do they offer SMS / text updates.
